What you'll cover:
o Safety and Camp Briefing.
o Bushcraft Tools: Safe use of Knife, Axe and Saw. Tool
design, selection and maintenance.
o Water: methods of sourcing, collection and purification.
o Shelter: Why we need shelter, building improvised
natural shelters, (you can sleep in them if you wish). Modern
shelters.
o Fire: Basic principles of fire-lighting, siting, laying,
fire making. Fire management. Various methods of fire lighting.
o Outdoor Cooking: Practical camp crafts. Outdoor hygiene
practices. Game preparation.
o Knife Craft and Saw Craft.
o Survival psychology.
When: We run this course regularly. See our Calendar
for the next available course. Course's start at 7:00pm on the
first evening and finish at about 3:00pm after two nights. Dates
given on the calendar are the overnight dates. For organised groups,
we can customise times.
Who: Suitable for the complete beginner, or for those
with some experience who want a bit more practice. Persons under
17 should be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Please use the
booking form to inform us if you have any special dietary requirements.There
is a maximum of 10 people on this course.
Where: In a beautiful native woodland in Co. Louth, you
will be provided with instructions and directions when we have
confirmed your booking. Only 40 mins from Dublin.
